He was born in Scilla at the beginning of the 16th century.
With great dedication he studied medicine and philosophy and became so deeply versed in these disciplines
that, having soon gained a reputation as a learned physician and distinguished philosopher, he was entrusted
with the chair of medicine and philosophy at the University of Naples.
He served as physician to the most prominent Roman families, to Princes, Cardinals and to the Supreme Pontiff
Pius III (Farnese).
Due to a serious eye disease, he lost his sight and was therefore forced to abandon teaching at the University
of Naples and retire to Scilla, where he died at the advanced age of 85.
He wrote a work entitled “De Febribus” and many other valuable treatises on medicine and philosophy.
